Our series of primary science CPD sessions supported by the Enthuse grant got off to a great start yesterday with a session on Assessment in Primary Science with Caroline Skerry. It was attended by the science leads from Constantine, Perran-ar-worthal, Kennal Vale, Mawnan, Flusing and Mylor Bridge Primary Schools and the primary science lead and KS3 lead from Penryn College.
Caroline gave a thorough overview of the methods available for assessment in primary science and some time was spent looking at free online resources available for this. It was really interesting to see some of the books she produces with her Year 4 class and how she uses these and tackles assessment in her own teaching practice. One of the ideas that stood out to the secondary teachers in the room was the use of literacy time for science writing as literacy in science is a big focus at KS3
. Thank you Caroline.
Our next CPD session will include ideas for exciting and cost effective practical science on 10 Feb.
